A village named Anandawadi in Nilanga taluka in Latur district is not only run, but virtually owned by the women. This village has a population of about 635 people and is leading the way in social transformation in the state.
Effect of Social movie
These days Social Movies have created a great impact on the people in Haryana especially on people of towns like Charkhi Dadri and Bibipur where they have started to put the names of their daughters outside their houses.
To further motivate the people, the panchayat of Bibipur Villages has decided to bear the costs of these nameplates. These initiatives are expected to make much needed contribution towards campaigns and movements like “Laado” and “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”.
Now, this tiny village in Maharashtra is empowering women, by transferring the house and the fields in the name of the women in the family.
The villagers said that they don’t need any movies to inspire them and this suggestion was made by the villagers in the Gram Sabha. this decision was happily welcomed by all and now it’s a rule.
Comment of Gram Sabha
Nyanoba Chame, member of the gram sabha, has commented that “Like we bring the goddess Laxmi to our house every Diwali, we decided to honour our Laxmis (wives/daughters) by taking this decision. Women shouldn’t feel the need to be dependent on anyone, since they run the home. Why shouldn’t they also own it? This will also help to get rid of the patriarchal mindset of people”
The after effect
Now there are about 165 homes which are named after women, and some people have taken a step ahead and have transferred the fields in the name of women.
The people in the village are very much happy with this decision, and you will be surprised to know that this village haven’t had a police case in the last 15 years and have been awarded as best village award under the ‘dispute-free village scheme.’
Comment of Sarpanch
Being the lady Sarpanch of the village Bhagyashree Chame commented that “410 people from the village have pledged their organs. From now on the village has taken the responsibility of looking after the health of its residents. So smoking, chewing tobacco and drinking are strictly banned here,”
About the village
Farming is the main occupation of the people here, but to provide comfort to the parents of the girl, the wedding is arranged by the whole village. Madhav Nagmode, who is a resident of this village said “Since last year, we have been announcing a date on which mass weddings will be conducted and the entire cost is to borne by . We all contribute, and this takes away one big cause of worry that a daughter’s father has,”

There is one more saint in our country, who is doing incredible jobs for women empowerment and he is none other than Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
